Mission Statement

Care Medical was founded in Athens, Georgia, in 1985 by Linda and Bill Childers. The business was started in a back bedroom of their home as a part-time job for Linda at a time when they had three small children and needed a little extra income. They actually borrowed $100 from a bank to get started and used many innovative, cost-saving methods to keep overhead low. Their primary customer base came from the local cancer society which made referrals to them for wheelchairs, hospital beds and so forth. Through hard work, creative problem-solving, and customer-focused service the business prospered, and they experienced growth year after year.


Following several moves, from their home, to a warehouse, to a small back office, Care Medical was able to purchase its major competitor in town. This gave the company a showroom and visibility in the middle of the medical community. Since that time they have continued to grow, have achieved JCAHO accreditation, expanded to many retail and home care lines of business, and now have close to 20 employees. Care Medical's services include durable medical equipment, respiratory equipment including c-pap and apnea monitors, braces/orthotics/prosthetics, compression hosiery, diabetic monitors and supplies, including diabetic shoes and socks, ostomy/urolological supplies, breast prosthetics, retail medical and surgical supplies, and medical equipment repair.

Weathering the storm of corporate takeovers, Care Medical remains locally owned and operated. Our commitment continues to be to provide the kind of customer service that our customers recognize as outstanding and to develop long-term relationships with our customers and their families. We bill Major Medical Insurance Companies, Medicare, Medicaid and Workman's Compensation.
